I wanted to change the summer landscape into a panorama of color to build top of mind awareness for Sonic’s cold, colorful slushes. The 3D straws transformed these billboards into something that felt less like an ad and more like an event.

I had over 40 creatives on my team at Adams Outdoor. Almost all of them came from a graphic design background, but advertising is a different challenge. I needed a way to help them practice copywriting that didn’t feel like work. My solution was cards with advertisers, target audiences, and writing styles. Combining these cards created unexpected prompts for headlines. It was so flippin’ fun.

With multiple audiences from casual tourists to adventure-seekers, we found common threads of curiosity and natural wonders that would inspire people to visit Cumberland Caverns. We even flip the negatives of dark and damp into positives.
Blipper Law

For year, I had been wanting to do an April Fools’ day campaign. All the pieces came together at Blip. We needed brand awareness. We had access to thousands of billboards. And we had leaders willing to use humor to drive revenue. We made our own spin on the ubiquitous lawyer billboards to make people second guess what they just saw and visit the website.
Bojangles

There are rabidly loyal Bojangles fans throughout North Carolina. But outside NC, their reputation was lacking. We created an outdoor campaign that took the message back to its core – Made From Scratch. We could type that out on a hundred billboards, and no one would care. So we put our strategy where our mouth is with scratch-made typography. And yes, we really did deep fry letters.
OBIE Awards Call For Entries

Our concept for this out of home advertising awards show call for entries was “Steal the Show” since this would be the first time a Platinum OBIE would be given to the single best campaign in the show. Previously, the top award was split among multiple categories. Our challenge was to create an untrashable direct mail piece on a small budget using only paper. With prison-orange ink, perforations, diecuts, and swivel locks, recipients literally had to break into this mailer. The concept continued into the digital realm with animated banners, and the awards show played out with an audience member stealing the Platinum OBIE only to be apprehended when the real winner was announced.
Eli’s Cheesecake

Eli’s Cheesecake is a Chicago institution, but we wanted more of the country to get some of this delicacy in their cakeholes. In Chicago, we reminded fans that they can ship Eli’s to loved ones anywhere in the U.S. And outside Chicago, we instigated a friendly food fight.

I leaned heavily into the airline theme for this cannabis dispensary near Chicago’s Midway Airport. Considering the number of dispensaries taking over Chicago, this distinct concept helps them stand out and stick in consumers’ brains.
